some time ago, I was asked to present a speech about my approach to developing people.
to give a brief, attractive and easily recognisable quote, I have created APPLE concept.
A stands for Awareness. This is important stage of the process. The person needs to be aware of his/her needs of new skills and in the same time, it should create the drive to learn new things, not the fear of failing due to lack of knowledge.
PP stands for Proper Planning. Just like in the famous quote- if you fail to plan, to plan to fail. Developing needs to be properly planned, which means setting reasonable objectives, thinking about the methods and tools and finally, getting the realistic timeline.
L stands for Learning. The actual process of getting new information and skills. Yes, it is never easy. It is hard work and practice, supported by a professional trainer and expert.
And finally E for Evolution. I always believe that learning and development leads to evolution. It changes the way we work and live. We evolve to the next stage, level within our performance.
to sum up then, it's all about the APPLE. All the ingredients need to be in place, to ensure successful and fruitful development process.
